Guild Wars 2 Lead Designer Colin Johanson released some interesting details about the Dynamic System. That is "challenge the fundamental ways content has been presented to players in traditional MMORPGs." He insists that the new Dynamic Events System will improve the idea of quests in MMO. The Dynamic Events System of Guild Wars 2 will focus on in-game action and NPC interaction which can lead players to quests. Johanson poinst out another flaw in the basic design used in traditional MMO's. He mentions that the events you are supposed to alter actually don't effect the game environment. After slaying your 20 goblins, you will not actually save the farmer's home. Johanson says that it is an unacceptable form of questing. With the new System, if you don't stop those 20 goblins, they will destroy the farmer's house; if you defeat them, they will disappear and the farm will be saved.
This kind of system will change the gaming world over and over again. Johanson explains: "The core of this evolution is our event system, which allows the world to dynamically change based on actions and decisions made by the players. A single player decision can cascade across a zone, changing the direction of a chain of events until they dramatically alter the content played by players in a map." In playing a mmo game, not only will your play effect others around you, but also designers hope their new system will implement a more friendly environment for players to succeed together.
For Guild Wars players, whether this new system can work as the team's hope, let us wait patiently. But the outlook is truely exciting.
